The SocketTools Library Edition consists of standard Windows dynamic link libraries (DLLs) and C++ classes, suitable for use with virtually any Windows development environment or scripting tool. The application program interface for the Library Edition is implemented with a simple elegance that makes it easy to use with any language, not just C or C++.

All of the libraries share many common attributes. The network libraries support both synchronous (blocking) and asynchronous modes of operation. All of the libraries are thread-safe and can be used in multithreaded applications. The C++ classes are provided in source form. Many of them support asynchronous operations in such a way as to make it easier to program the message-handling aspects of applications. The C++ class that corresponds to the terminal emulation library implements an abstract display window, to couple the flexibility of the library with window management functions.
